1/4 cup sliced almonds
1 Tbsp + 1 tsp. sugar
1 11 oz. can mandarin oranges, drained
¼ head of lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
¼ head romaine lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces
2 stalks celery, chopped
Sweet and Sour Dressing (recipe below)
Cook almond and sugar over low flame, stirring constantly, until sugar is melted and almonds are coated. Cool on foil and break-apart. Toss lettuce, celery, onions and oranges together in bowl. Pour sweet-and-sour dressing over the top just before serving. Add the sugared almonds on top.
Sweet and Sour Dressing
¼ cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. vinegar
¼ tsp. almond extract
Dash of Tabasco Sauce
Mix all together and chill.
